We recently brought our Essential Oil Roller Workshop for 60 employees at PETRONAS, held on one of the highest floors we've ever run a session from, right at the heart of one of Malaysia's most iconic landmarks. It was a memorable one for us. But what made the day work wasn't just the view, it was the structure behind it and the energy of the participants.
Our workshops are facilitated by Guan Ren, our HRDC-accredited lead trainer, who combines practical aromatherapy knowledge with a relaxed, hands-on teaching approach to make the workshop that is engaging and easy to follow, even for participants who've never touched an essential oil before.

Why we start with the science, not the recipe
For us, an aromatherapy workshop is never just about making a product to bring home.
Before anyone picks up a bottle, we spend time on the "why." Why does a certain scent make us feel calm, while another sharpens focus or lifts energy? And just as importantly... why can't you simply mix every essential oil together and expect a good result?

We think this part matters as much as the blending itself. Understanding the connection between scent, mood, and safe blending changes how participants approach their blend. Instead of copying a recipe off a card, they're making decisions...
"Lavender... because I want to wind down";
"this Essential Oil combined with Peppermint, because I need to stay alert through a long afternoon."

It's a small shift, but it's the difference between a workshop that's just a nice activity and one that actually teaches something people carry forward.
Guan Ren was joined by another trainer and assistant, who moved through the room helping participants with their scent combinations, and help participants fine-tune their blends. With a group of 60, having a team on the floor rather than one trainer at the front kept the pace comfortable and made sure no one was left figuring things out alone.

After everyone had completed their blends, we then shared practical guidance on how to get the most out of their Essential Oil Roller, from the best application points and simple care tips to keeping the blend fresh for longer. To wrap up the learning, Guan Ren introduced a few easy breathing exercises that participants could pair with their Roller, showing how a one-minute pause during a busy workday can become a simple wellness habit they can continue long after the workshop.
The part that surprised us
Toward the end, we opened the floor for a few volunteers to share what they'd made, and to introduce the blend they had created, the essential oils they had chosen, and the intention behind them. Some wanted a calming blend to help them relax and prepare for better sleep, while others created something bright and uplifting to start their mornings with more energy before work. Listening to these personal stories reminded everyone that scent is deeply individual, what feels comforting or motivating is different for every person.

This reflection element is something we enjoy incorporating into our workshops whenever time allows. It transforms the activity from simply making an Essential Oil Roller into a conversation about wellbeing, daily routines, and self-care. Participants leave not only with a personalised blend, but also with a better understanding of how aromatherapy can be incorporated into their everyday lives in a safe and intentional way.
If you're an HR team exploring wellness activities that go beyond a one-off feel-good session, this is the kind of workshop built to leave something behind: a bit of knowledge, a personal blend, and a short & sweet pause in the day that people actually remember.
